It was an honour to be invited to exhibit at The Sanctuary at All Saints Church, Tooting, as part of Wandsworth Arts Fringe 2024. The event reflected Wandsworth as a Borough of Sanctuary and All Saints as a Church of Sanctuary.
The idea was to create a space where people feel held by different art forms (music, visual art, crafting, storytelling and stillness) to explore their inner world and the complexity of the world outside. There was an exhibition, talks, music, storytelling and meditative activities that people could take part in however suited them.
I exhibited two pieces. The first was a collective community art installation made by the ladies of Mushkil Aasaan.

The second was a painting, The Quiet Embrace, my creative response to the brief. It explores the search for sanctuary amidst chaos. The swirling strokes carry confusion and turbulence, while the figure turns inward, seeking solace. Yet in the midst of it all there is an embrace, both metaphorical and figurative: a reminder that sometimes the comfort we seek is as simple and profound as holding on, whether to ourselves or to something deeper.
